The Writers Block SC Author Awards was created to provide more opportunities for authors to be celebrated and honored for their literary contributions in the world. There are really great authors not being recognized due to the plethora of literature and this opens the door for more authors to be recognized. The award winners will be announced at the official Writers Block SC Author Awards ceremony tentatively on Sunday, July 31st in Moncks Corner, SC.

Eligibility: Books may be independently published or through a traditional publisher. The book must have a copyright date within the last 10 years (2012 - 2022) and not previously awarded. Books may be submitted in multiple categories, if desired, as long as they are applicable and relevant to the category.

Best Children’s Book

Best Young Adult Novel

Best Inspirational Book

Best Thriller/Mystery Book

Best Romance Book

Best Self-Help Book

Best Informational

Best Illustrator (*Special Category*)

There will be five (3) finalists in each category. All finalists will receive a set of 50 gold foil stickers designating “Writers Block SC Author Awards Finalist.” Finalists may purchase additional gold foil stickers in batches of 50.

What Winners Receive

Grand Prize: $100 for best overall book in it’s category

The grand prize winner and the winners in each category will be selected from among the finalists and there will be a winner for best author in their category.

Winners in individual categories receive the following benefits:

Writers Block SC Author Awards - Acrylic award, ideal for display on desk or mantle

Recognition on social media announcing the Writers Block SC Author Award winners

Set of 100 gold foil stickers designating "Writers Block SC Author Awards Winner." Winners may purchase additional gold foil stickers in batches of 500.

Judges

Authors will be voted on per category via Facebook once nominated. The author with the most votes will be selected as winners and finalists of their category.

Entry Fee

The entry fee will be $30/book per category. Each book will be considered for the best author award in the category specified by the entrant, without having to submit it twice. An author can self-nominate or a publishing company can nominate one or more of its signed authors. One entry form per title. All entry fees are non-refundable. The transaction will be from "Author Sasha Wright."

Deadlines

June 27, 2022: Deadline for entry fee payments.

June 28, 2022: The Nominees will be announced on Facebook and voting will be open.

July 11, 2022: Voting will be closed.

July 31, 2022: Winners and finalists will be announced at the Writers Block SC Author Awards at the Aku Venue in Moncks Corner, SC at 5pm

Prohibitions

Staff and managers of the Writers Block SC, LLC are prohibited from entering the award competition.
